  1. I first began training in 1979, and was able to read about Gary Leonard two years thereafter. I found that he had an impressive physique, and I still do. I found, during that time, him to be massive, but not with a cumbersome look, but rather, a look of athletic functionality, and BALANCE. He was sufficiently compact, without being stubby, while simultaneously having a flow of proportion and symmetry, without looking like a ballet dancer (like I found several of the “princes of proportion” of that decade, and the decade beyond, did.) He, like Rory Liedelmeyer, but on a different type of frame, had mass, but mass with flow, devoid of exageration, and suggestive of athleticism, and not mere aesthetic impressiveness. I never knew this man, nor trained with him, but there is something about the balance of his musculature that, to me , is suggestive of a pretty respectable degree of overall physical strength, that despite its mass, has not rendered itself devoid of mobility. I might be wrong, but I don’t think that I am. To me, definitely one of the best of his time.
