Steve Reeves quote from Interview by Pat Henry and Tony Quinn
“After Hercules, I didn’t know how it was going to do at the box office so i came back and I took a regular job again for a while, public relations for a health studio, and then six months later they said, “Well, it’s doing real good, come on over, we’ll make another one”. So when I got in the middle of the second one, I had signed up for the third, and fourth. When i got in the third one I signed for fifth and sixth. So I always had two to go from then on after the public had seen it. My first film Hercules was not only the biggest box office in the world, it was the biggest box office in the states also. I out-grossed John Wayne and Rock Hudson and all the people who were the biggest stars at that time. I think for somebody starring in their first film to be the best box office in the world, it was quite an achievement.”
Steve Reeves when asked why he thought that he created such an impression that would last so long,
“Well, I don’t really know. Maybe it’s because i had a very symmetrical physique accompanied by, I would say, a noble face and maybe that’s a good combination.”
